Role

We are seeking a Virtual Infrastructure & Data Engineer who will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and cybersecurity protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience in database management, data transformation, automation, and cloud-based solutions, with a strong ability to troubleshoot IT systems, optimize workflows, and enhance data security. This role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure data consistency, system efficiency, and compliance with best practices in IT infrastructure. The candidate will understand the importance of implementation deadlines and will work towards gaining a significant understanding of the role of the firm’s virtual infrastructure as it relates to growth and strategy.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be eager to coordinate the virtual infrastructure of the firm, and will work directly with our operations team to manage and implement conversions of sensitive data to and from various systems. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the big picture of the company’s overall IT and Data best practices and will be comfortable leading discussions around hardware, software, and cybersecurity. They will coordinate with internal and external partners and maintain the utmost of confidence within their role. The candidate will understand the importance of implementation deadlines and will work towards gaining a significant understanding of the role of the firm’s virtual infrastructure as it relates to growth and strategy.

Responsibillity

The primary objective of this role is to coordinate the set-up, implementation and ongoing use of systems (including hardware, software, and data review) for the firm. The role will interface with operational, compliance, and finance departments as well as interface with key technology partners.

  • Design, develop, and manage database structures, ensuring efficiency, security, and data integrity.
  • Automate data workflows, reporting structures, and develop tools to enhance data accessibility for business intelligence and analytics.
  • Develop and enforce data security policies, including access controls, backup strategies, and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Coordinate the migration, conversion, and integration of data between different systems and platforms.
  • Conduct system audits and perform regular data integrity checks to ensure compliance with CIRO industry regulations and other regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with operational, compliance, and finance teams to assess database and IT system needs, providing technical support as required.
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for IT infrastructure, database management, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Research and implement new technologies to improve the firm’s IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, regulatory reporting requirements, and cybersecurity standards, reporting to senior management as needed.
  • Support the ongoing enhancement of IT infrastructure by tracking system updates, testing new workflows, and implementing API integrations.

Knowlodge and experience

Regardless of experience, we provide specific training and ongoing development to all employees to ensure that knowledge and experience is applied consistently throughout the organization.

  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, cybersecurity or data management
  • 1-2 years of virtual infrastructure or data management experience, Azure cloud services and data security best practices
  • Expertise in SQL databases, Python, and automation tools, API integrations, CI/CD workflows, and system automation
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity protocols and IT infrastructure management
  • Critical thinker and skillful decision maker, adaptable in a changing regulatory environment,
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize important and time-sensitive tasks,
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a sharp eye for detail,

Transitions Lead - Closed

Job Description

The transitions lead will contribute to the big picture of the company as they guide the onboarding of a new advisors to the company. The candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of their role and know how to stay organized amid ongoing interactions with those advisors whom they are onboarding. They will be attentive and insightful in managing the expectations of new advisors, and communicate with other departments to pre-plan for volumes, special scenarios, and customized processes.

Responsibilities

All employees undergo departmental cross training, which is emphasized in the first 3 to 6 months of employment before responsibilities may be narrowed. This provides exposure to other areas in which you may be interested in taking your career while also ensuring that you are aware of how your specific role interfaces and impacts other people or functions.

  • Work directly with new, onboarding advisors and manage their training, asset transfers and full transition,
  • Plan the onboarding according to the specific needs of an advisor,
  • Coordinate with other departments to gather input, feedback and materials beneficial to an advisor,
  • Meet regularly to discuss recruiting and assess resource requirements,
  • Provide ongoing feedback to team members and executive on areas needing improvement,
  • Create analysis on trends observed through the lens of a new advisor.
  • Learn systems and act as an initial training resource for new advisors.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Completion of securities and investment industry courses preferred (CSC, CPH)
  • 2 years of investment industry experience, preferably working with an advisor
  • Adaptable and calm amongst changes to new and existing priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize important and time-sensitive tasks,
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a sharp eye for detail,
  • Capacity to work independently while simultaneously ensuring staff and advisors are frequently contacted

Operations Lead - Closed

Job Description

As the Operations Lead you have an opportunity to be both advisor-facing and managing the internal operational needs across departments. You will have opportunity to support the day-to-day operational needs of an advisors practice, as well a play a key role in ensuring the internal operational needs of head office and other departments are being met. The role is highly interactive, requires great interpersonal skills, and organization.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a variety of systems, have strong ability to communicate and keep others updated on progress, and will not allow things to slip through the cracks. They will have strong commitment to service.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to advisor inquiries on a variety of day to day matters
  • Provides training and oversight to advisors and staff on how to use our trading platforms, account opening platforms and internal systems.
  • Managing internal system access for staff, including systems set up for new employees and advisors
  • Solicit feedback from staff and advisors for future system developments
  • Interface with transitioning advisors to ensure training and preparation of their transition is progressing on time
  • Interface with technology partners to ensure systems are functioning properly
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and that day-to-day activities are meeting deadlines,
  • Participate in cross-functional department reporting, audit and review projects.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint applications
  • Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency in excel
  • Completion of securities and investment industry courses is an asset (CSC, CPH)
  • Minimum 2 years of investment industry experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize important and time-sensitive tasks,
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a sharp eye for detail,
  • Experience with the Dataphile platform is an asset and,
  • Highly personable with strong written and oral communication
